Anna Stair, 112 years old, attributes her long life to good genes, a healthy lifestyle, staying active, and her faith in God’s protection. She takes care of herself and maintains social connections.
At 112, Anna Stair remains sharp and plays a strong game of Scrabble. Born in 1900, when William McKinley was President, Anna’s life has witnessed significant changes, from the advent of electricity to how people access healthcare.
Throughout her 112 years, she rarely fell ill and has only been hospitalized twice — once after a car accident and another time due to a reaction to medication.
Her secret to longevity is “good genes, healthy living, and staying active.”
Anna lives alone, cooks and cleans for herself, and believes that daily chores provide her with enough exercise without needing to go for walks.
Dr. Paul Takahashi, a geriatric specialist at the Mayo Clinic, agrees that staying active and socially connected, like playing Scrabble, is key to longevity. However, Anna firmly believes that the real reason for her long and healthy life comes from above.
