I am a health expert from IVmagazine – a trusted source of information on proactive health care and intravenous therapy.
Today, together with other experts, I will explore and discuss one of the most important topics for the majority of women, which is the secret to having healthy and beautiful skin from within.
IVmagazine health expert: Dear listeners!
You’ve probably experienced times when your skin is well-cared for, but it still doesn’t look as good as you’d like. Even after trying many expensive skincare products, problems like acne, dark spots, or roughness persist. This could be because you’ve overlooked one crucial factor: skin health starts from within the body. When your body is lacking essential nutrients, your skin will be the first to show warning signs, such as dryness or breakouts. So how can we achieve healthy and radiant skin from the inside out? Let’s find the answer in today’s podcast!
Joining me today is dermatologist Dr. Kim Duong.
Dr. Kim Duong: Hello to all of you tuning into this podcast.
IVmagazine health expert: We all understand that the skin is a mirror of overall health, but many people are still unsure of how to properly care for it to achieve flawless beauty. Many people focus on choosing the right skincare products or methods but forget that to have beautiful skin, it first needs to be healthy from the inside. Is that correct?
Dr. Kim Duong: That’s right! Many people still think that external skincare products are enough. However, in reality, beautiful skin comes from a healthy diet, enough sleep, and a balanced lifestyle. Think of your skin as a garden. If you don’t water and nourish the plants properly, how can you expect vibrant flowers?
IVmagazine health expert: Exactly! Is this the reason why some people have flawless skin even though they don’t use a lot of products?
Dr. Kim Duong: That’s because they know how to care for their skin from within. Internal skincare helps improve skin structure, enhance elasticity, prevent aging, and effectively reduce dark spots. It’s like building a foundation for healthy skin. External care is necessary but doesn’t determine the overall effectiveness of skincare.
IVmagazine health expert: There is an opinion that one of the most important factors in internal skincare is diet. In your opinion, which food groups are particularly beneficial for the skin?
Dr. Kim Duong: Nutrition is the foundation because it nourishes every cell in the body, including skin cells. Foods rich in vitamin C and antioxidants are extremely important for healthy skin. Vitamin C not only boosts the immune system but also acts as a “collagen production factory,” helping the skin remain firm and elastic. Fruits like oranges, kiwi, and strawberries are great choices if you want your skin to be healthy from within.Dark leafy greens like kale and spinach are also packed with vitamins and minerals that are great for the skin, helping boost the immune system and fight off free radicals.
IVmagazine health expert: In addition to vitamin C, nutrients like omega-3 from salmon, chia seeds, or walnuts also play an important role in moisturizing the skin and preventing inflammation. Aside from these foods, are there any other skin care tips you could share with us?
Dr. Kim Duong: Definitely, don’t forget to drink enough water. You may not know this, but water is a “miracle cure” that helps your skin stay plump and vibrant. Without enough water, your skin will become dry, dull, and more prone to wrinkles.
IVmagazine health expert: Studies show that the quality of sleep is also essential in helping people have beautiful skin. Getting enough sleep allows the body to recover and regenerate the skin. Would you agree that when we don’t get enough sleep, our skin becomes dull and prone to breakouts?
Dr. Kim Duong: Absolutely, getting 7-8 hours of sleep per night gives the skin time to recover, especially during the hours between 10 PM and 2 AM, when the body produces hormones that help regenerate skin cells and heal the skin.
IVmagazine health expert: What about stress? Does stress also have a significant impact on the skin?
Dr. Kim Duong: Stress increases cortisol levels, making the skin more prone to inflammation and acne. The longer the stress lasts, the more the skin is affected. That’s why keeping a relaxed, calm mindset is equally important. I often advise people to practice yoga or meditation to reduce stress and improve skin health.
IVmagazine health expert: In summary, to have beautiful skin from within, aside from using skincare products, we need to focus on nutrition, sleep, hydration, and stress reduction. These internal care factors help build lasting beauty for the skin, with noticeable results at low costs. Thank you to our expert for sharing so much valuable information today.
