After breaking his leg, college student Luke Durward took the time to return home and guide his younger brother on healthy eating. While illustrating his brother’s dramatic transformation, Luke Durward shares an obvious secret that is often overlooked by unsuccessful dieters.
On the popular YouTube channel TEDxTalks, with nearly 50 million followers, Luke recounts his and his brother’s journey as follows:
Initially, Luke’s brother ate a lot and was at risk of developing unhealthy eating habits. After Luke broke his leg and had time at home, he decided to move back and guide his brother by cooking every meal himself.
The astonishing result was that Luke’s brother lost 18 pounds (about 8 kg) in just 36 days without feeling hungry or deprived.
Luke’s secret was changing the living environment: eliminating unhealthy food options and replacing them with nutritious foods. This helped minimize difficult decisions when choosing food, making healthy eating easy and natural.
